CT Scan
What is it?
Computer Tomography Scan allows a better visualisation of the bones compared to MRI, but a worse image of soft tissues. CT Scan uses an X-ray equipment to take images from different angles of your body. A computer will then be used to reconstruct these images in a cross sectional view.
You will lie on a table while the scanner rotates around you. You will be in constant contact with the technologist through a microphone.
Although the radiation is limited to the part of your body that needs to be checked, some contraindications, due to the use of radiation, must be evaluated in some particular circumstances (i.e. pregnancy).
